Dear Grace Family,

This Sunday: New Sermon Series Begins!

This Sunday marks the beginning of a new Summer sermon series called "The Church."  The culture in which we live definitely shows itself to be more hostile than welcoming to the things of God, perhaps now more than ever.  What does the future hold for the church?  What will "the church" look like for our children and grandchildren?  Is she a quickly fading fad, or is there more?  It's questions like these that will drive us to the Word of God for answers in the weeks ahead (more info HERE).

I get to kick off the sermon series this week by preaching a message entitled "The Church and Her Place in History."  I'll miss being with you this Sunday as I serve at our Florence campus.  I look forward to seeing you again next week.

Thanks for praying for our special guests from Newport Intermediate School last Sunday!

Perhaps you recall me asking you to pray for kids we specifically invited to church last Sunday by way of a handout we sent home with students on Friday with an invitation to come.  Sadly, no one showed.  I spoke with the principal and we're not too sure why since there are SO many factors at play.  (Did the handouts make it out of the kids book bag?  Did parents not want to take them?  Did the holiday last weekend play a part?)  Who knows?  Well, God does.  I'm thankful for how he's blessed us in our efforts at the school throughout the year.  Let's think & pray about more ways we can link that work with our worship services.  Got an idea?  I'd love to hear!  Call me at the church office or shoot me an email to peterlaruffa[at]graceky[dot]org.  I'd love to chat with you.

As always, I'll be thinking about and praying for you while I'm preaching this Sunday.  Looking forward to seeing you next week!

Dear Grace Family,

We DO have Sunday School this week through grade 5.

An email inadvertently went out yesterday to the entire church saying we didn't, but seriously...we do.  That was only intended for Florence folks.  Sorry for the confusion.

Pray for Special Guests from Newport Intermediate School!

In fact, I dropped off some reading handouts to Doug Cotton, the principal of the Newport Intermediate School one block away from where we worship each week.  If the kids complete the handout and bring it to church on Sunday, they'll get some gift cards for food & fun at the Levee.  Hopefully we can link the great work we've been doing there at the "Read-In's" we sponsored throughout the school year with the great work of God happening at our church every Sunday.  Pray that they'll come with their families!

Save the date: GoGlobal - Mon, 09-Jun, 6:30p

One of our ministry highlights last year was an event called "GoLocal" when we packed out the cafe at the Florence campus with people checking out different displays and presentations from the local ministries we support as a church.  This year we're highlighting our overseas ministries, bringing them across the pond to spend this special time with us.  We'll even have activities for the kiddies!  All the info, including child registration can be found HERE.  Hope to see you there!

Last week of "Things God Does Not Know"

We're finishing out our sermon series this Sunday talking about how to really live "your best life now;" and that's living your life for the glory of God.  I'm looking forward to our time in the Word together this Sunday as Pastor Brad preaches the closing message in this series.

What's next?  A series through the Summer on the church.  It'll have some great messages with a great lineup of guest speakers, too.  More info HERE.

Thanks for giving!

Because of your faithful & sacrificial giving, we're slightly ahead of budget this year.  Praise God!  Summer can be tough months as attendance tends to dip with folks traveling for vacation and other Summer events.  If you've not already done so, consider making giving back to God through our local church a priority by signing up for easy, online Electronic Funds Transfers (EFT).  Info is HERE.

Enjoy the long weekend.  See you on Sunday!

God bless,

Pastor Peter

Dear Grace Family,

Baby Dedication - THIS SUNDAY, 18-MAY

God has blessed GFC Newport with many babies (we've got one, too!) so I'm excited to celebrate them together and pray for them and their parents this Sunday.  Still plenty of time to have you join us!  Help us out by quickly signing up HERE and I'll look forward to seeing you with me & mine on Sunday.

"Things God Does Not Know"

Our sermon series continues this week with a message entitled "God Knows No Sin He Can't Forgive and No Life He Can't Rebuild," and it's going to be preached by one of our Elders, Brian Fannin.  Pray for him as he opens the Word with us this Sunday.

Bible Questions Sunday School class is back!

We've taken a few weeks off for Baptism Sunday & Mothers' Day, but our Sunday School class is back!  Come here answers to "Questions You've Always Wanted to Ask About the Bible."  Questions were submitted by you, and will be answered by a variety of different teachers over the next few weeks (and this week it's Spencer Settles).  Class is held in theater 2 at 9 AM.

See you on Sunday!

Dear Grace Family,

"God Knows No Other Way To Grow Spiritually But In His Church"

How's that for a title?!  Hopefully it peaked your interest.  I'm preaching at our Florence campus this Sunday, which means I won't be with you this weekend.  As always, I look forward to being back with you again next Sunday.  In the meantime, if you want to prepare yourself in the Word, check out 1 Tim. 3:14,15 & Eph. 5:25-31.

Baby Dedication - NEXT SUN, 18-MAY

One of my favorite church family traditions is our Baby Dedications.  What a joy it is to both celebrate and pray for the new lives God has blessed our church family with!  Our Baby Dedication ceremony will be next Sun, 18-May.  If you've had a baby that didn't participate in our last Baby Dedication, we'd love to celebrate and pray for your family!  Take 60 seconds to sign up HERE while it's fresh on your mind, and we'll count you in.  If you have any questions, contact the church office or me via email to peterlaruffa[at]graceky[dot]org.

This weekend I have the honor of performing a wedding for a former student of mine!  Please pray for me as I celebrate with them & preach the Gospel to those in attendance.

That's all for now.  Have a great weekend, and I look forward to seeing you next Sunday!

God bless,

Pastor Peter

Dear Grace Family,

! WORSHIP SERVICE AT FLORENCE THIS WEEK !

About 2-3 times each year, we worship together as one church family.  This Sunday (04-May) is one such day, as we'll be gathering together at our Florence campus to celebrate both Baptism and Communion together.  Services are at 8:15, 9:45 & 11:15, with nursery & childcare provided at all three services.  Click HERE for directions.

Another great outreach at Newport Intermediate School!

I joined the McFadden & Lux Small Groups, as well as some other individuals from our church body, at the Newport Intermediate School for another outreach opportunity.  We served over 200 students & parents, read books with them, and engaged them in conversations.  This time, we added a new layer to it with Mark McFadden teaching 3rd-5th graders how to write code.  It was a HUGE success!  Kids loved it, parents & teachers were encouraged, and principal Doug Cotton was very grateful for our labors of love for his students.  Thanks for praying and helping!  If you've never joined us before, keep an eye peeled for the next time we're there and come along!

Pray for Toyota families

Please join me in praying for the close to 1,600 people who are affected by Toyota's announcement earlier this week to close down their Erlanger-based headquarters over the next 3 years.  Several families within our church body are affected by this decision, having to make difficult decisions they certainly didn't see coming.  Also, our church has enjoyed engaging many Japanese families in Bible studies and various evangelistic outreaches, in large part because of God using Toyota's presence among us.  Long-time GFC member, Pat O'Reagan, is quoted in this article should you want to read a bit about it.  More than that, please do pray for those affected by this major decision.

See you on Sunday...at Florence!

Pastor Peter
