From Pastor Peter 26-Sept-2014

Grace Family,

Hello once again from Albania! This is my last night here, and it will be a short one as I havea 4:25a flight to begin my LONG trek home tomorrow. The 2nd CDT went very well in Kor├že, so thanks so much for praying for us. For the sake of brevity, I'll not get into details now, but look forward to sharing more with you upon my return. For now, here's a fun group shot we took at the end of the conference. Pray for these siblings in Christ you've not yet met!

For the last few weeks, we've been looking over our shoulders at some of huge highlights of the first seven chapters in Romans. This Sunday, we'll wrap it up with a message that unpacks the amazing news that God has done for us what we could never do ourselves—justify us freely by His grace, through the redemption which is in Christ Jesus! Come ready to rejoice in the Gospel, and invite a friend to join you!

Speaking of inviting friends, this Sunday we're holding Taste of Grace after church.

I hear you've had quite a week with some amazing nights of praise music by our own Brad Spence and his team. I can't wait to hear it myself! The Grace Fellowship family should really be ready to sing our hearts out together on Sunday.  Thanks, Spence, for all of your hard work in putting together the new hymns CD and in making this such a special week of worship.  Still want to catch one of the nights of worship? It’s not too late to jump in on the last one, Friday night.  You can get more information, including signing up for free childcare, HERE!

Also, we'll be having Taste of Grace after church this Sunday.  Know someone who is new to the GFC Newport family?  This free lunch and casual hangout is just for them.  Make sure they know about it, or join them after church for some lunch, a chance to meet some ministry leaders, and to get a brief taste of what God is doing among us at our church.  Details are HERE!

Off to bed for at least a little bit. Pray for a smooth and safe return to the States, my family, and our church family. I'm very excited to be back with you on Sunday. Hope to see you then!

Love in Christ,

Dear Grace Family,

Greetings from Albania! I arrived on Tuesday and have been enjoying my time with our missionaries, Blair & Sue Alvidrez, their daughter, Katherine, and Tim Pasma & Brad Brandt, the two other speakers that are teaching with me at the Biblical Counseling Training Conferences. There are about 100 people attending two different tracks (Fundamentals & Advanced), and the times of teaching, Q&A, and fellowship with one another have all been very blessed. It's humbling and honoring to be able to serve in this way. Please pray we finish well here in Tirana, and that the next conference in Korce goes just as well.

Also, while I've got you praying, I'll also mention that the Pope is planning on visiting Tirana this Sunday. This is the day we're planning on traveling from Tirana to Korce, and a visit from the Pope will probably mean increased security measures, many road closures, and just overall chaos in a place that is pretty chaotic under ordinary circumstances. Please pray for wisdom to change plans if necessary, safety while traveling, and that we'd respond well to any adverse circumstances the Lord allows us to face during the days ahead.

Here's my view right now as I sit outside my room, looking down at the street below:

Sermon This Sunday
Isn’t it good to be back into the book of Romans? I hope you’re enjoying the ‘pause’ to catch our breath and look back at some of the amazing ground we’ve covered so far in the first seven chapters. This Sunday, Pastor Brad will look at the wrath of God as it relates to our rejecting the glory of God and living for our own glory.

And, hey, invite someone to join you!  This will be a great Sunday that has a message of hope for people that desperately need a Savior.

Special Worship Nights this week @ Florence Campus
Brad Spence and the worship team are inviting us to a rich time of singing and testimonies at the upcoming Worship Nights!  We'll be singing familiar songs and learning new songs (some original songs, in fact).  Everyone is invited. This will be held at the Florence Campus Upper Auditorium.  You'll need to pick a night to attend: Sept 23, 24, 25 or 26, 7:00-8:00pm.  Childcare is going to be provided for the kiddos so you'll need to register them HERE.  This should be a great night of encouragement for all of us!

I'll miss being with you this Sunday, but look forward to worshiping together again when I'm back home next weekend.

In Christ,

Dear Grace Family,

This Sunday: Back to Romans!
We officially hop back into our Romans series this Sunday!  Instead of just jumping right back in, Pastor Brad will take this opportunity to give us a chance to catch our breath as we look back at where we've been, and then look forward to jumping into some of the richest chapters, Rom. 8 & 9.  Hope to see you there!

Thanks for praying!
I appreciate you praying for me at the Ocean City Bible Conference this past week.  I sense the teaching went well, and enjoyed lots of follow-up conversation with different folks throughout the conference.  I was also blessed & encouraged by the preaching I sat under, and got to connect & network with lots of different folks, old & new.  We also enjoyed some time as a family since I was able to have them with me.

It's good to be back in NKY, but only for the next few days.  Immediately after church, I hurry over to CVG and hop on a plane to Albania to speak in two biblical counseling training conferences (one next week, one the week after).  I'll speak 6 times in each conference - 3 in Fundamentals, and 3 in Advanced - so please pray for stamina, clarity, boldness, that our translators would deliver the message God has for His people, and for all the practical things that could really make or break international travel (luggage stuff, flight connections, health, weather, all that stuff).  Also, pray for our family as we'll be apart for quite a long time.

Two Upcoming Events
David Platt is speaking at Florence Baptist Church next Thu, 18-Sep, 7:00p.  Event is free, but registration is required.  Click HERE for more info.

Counseling & Discipleship Training starts next weekend, Sep 19-20, at our Florence campus.  Over 400 people are registered, but there's still room for you!  Click HERE for details, or drop a note to the church office.

See you on Sunday!

Dear Grace Family,

This Sunday: Tyson & Rom. 12
Not sure if you noticed the sermon promo cards at our Resource Table, but our Romans series is coming back!  The official start is next Sun, 14-Sep, but Tyson Ziegler will be preaching a sermon this Sunday re: Small Groups from Rom. 12.  Please pray for him and review Rom. 12:1-8 if you want to prepare yourself in the Word.  We'll also celebrate Communion together this Sunday.

No-Go on St. Mark Lutheran
We hired a commercial building inspector to take a look at St. Mark Lutheran on 8th & Monroe yesterday.  While the building is in pretty good shape considering its age, the work we'd have to do in the areas of disrepair would leave us with a bill that would be more than the property is worth.  Therefore, it's time to walk away from this building.  Sure, it's sad.  It's a pretty building, a great location, and I was hoping we could make it work.  But, God seems to have led very clearly on this when the numbers came in, so we'll lay it aside and continue our search.  There's a comfort that comes in knowing instead of wondering - know what I mean?  While I wish it could've worked, I'm grateful to know where we stand and to be able to move on, trusting the Lord has better in store for us, on His timetable.

As I mentioned last week, please pray for me as I travel really ramps up for me over the next two months.  September is full of speaking engagements, beginning with the Ocean City Bible Conference (which is why I won't be with you on Sunday).  I'm able to take the fam with me, so pray for our time together on the road and at the conference.  May we both bless others and be blessed by the fellowship, praise & worship, and teaching from God's Word.

See you next Sunday!

Love in Christ,

Pastor Peter
